How do I exchange Birmingham City Council?
Once you have found someone you would like to swap homes with, you must both apply for a swap. If you are a Birmingham City Council tenant, you must apply to us for permission to swap your home. We will assess your application once we have received all proofs for all applicants in your swap.
Can I swap for a bigger council house?
Please be aware, as a council or housing association tenant, you cannot exchange for a house that is bigger than you need. Some councils may allow you one extra bedroom than you need but this is depends on availability and you may be subject to bedroom tax.
