In your iTunes Media (on iTunes Music) -> Music folder, you’ll find a folder named Compilations with all of albums tagged as such.

How do I merge albums in iTunes 12?

Helpful answers

  1. Sort out items by clicking the option “Album by Title”.
  2. Select albums which you would like to merge.
  3. Right click on items and click “Get info” for all items you would like to merge.
  4. Click the tab “Options”.
  5. Enable “Part of Compilation” to “Yes” and enable “Gapless album” to “Yes” by clicking the boxes.

What are compilations on Apple music?

Usually compilations are used to group different artists within the same album. I would only use compilations if you want to group different artists in the same album. If compilations are used, iTunes will group the songs based on the album name and if the compilation option is checked.

How do I turn off compilations in iTunes?

You cannot completely disable compilations within iTunes. See Grouping tracks into albums for some general advice. In some cases you should set Part of a compilation to off and provide a common Album Artist, but even then iTunes may continue to recognize an album with multiple artists as a compilation.

Why is the same album on iTunes separate?

If there’re multiple artists for a certain album, or if it is a compilation album, Apple will split up the album into individual albums which matches to the specific artists’ name. It will also create a split when the Album Artist field and Artist filed are different on the sorting tab.

What is iTunes grouping?

The grouping option allows you to assign your own groups and categories to your music, which can be particularly useful if you have a large music collection with thousands of titles. ITunes does not automatically fill out groupings, which means they are entirely up to you.
