Busy, productive and fun. Founded in 1850 as one of the country’s oldest grammar schools for girls, we are proud of our rich history and maintain some wonderful traditions which enrich life in our girls only day school.

Facilities and playing fields are excellent. The School has a strong family atmosphere throughout catering for weekly and termly boarders as well as day pupils. Academic results are consistently good or excellent, with 99% going on to university, many to Oxbridge.

How do you get into Harrogate Grammar School?

For entry on to A Level and BTEC courses, we require a minimum of:

  1. BTEC qualifications will only count as 1 GCSE. If more than 1 is studied, only the best will count towards the overall points score.
  2. Only grades at 4 or above will be included.
  3. GCSE points 4 – 9 will be used to calculate the overall point requirement.
