What do you roll for a ranged attack?
A ranged attack at face value is no different than any other attack in D&D 5e. You simply roll 1d20 and add your ability modifier and proficiency modifier to the result of the roll as required. For most ranged weapon attacks the ability modifier you’ll use will be your Dexterity modifier.
How does ranged attack work?
When you make a ranged Attack, you fire a bow or a crossbow, hurl a Handaxe, or otherwise send projectiles to strike a foe at a distance. A monster might shoot spines from its tail. Many Spells also involve making a ranged Attack.
Can you power attack bow?
Technically, you can use Power Attack before making ranged attacks, but it won’t do anything—you’ll take no penalty to your attack roll and gain no bonus to your damage roll.
