SAE 75W-140, API GL-5 is typically used as service fill rear axle oil for many passenger cars and trucks with high loads or very high horsepower. The higher viscosity base stocks help protect gears by maintaining the oil film in addition to the extreme pressure agents used to reduce metal to metal wear.

Does Royal Purple 75W140 have friction modifier?

Max Gear is formulated with a friction modifier additive – no additional additives are necessary.

How long does Royal Purple gear oil last?

With Royal Purple full synthetic motor oil, feel free to change your oil every 12,000 miles, or 12 months (whichever comes first). That’s 16–50 fewer oil changes over the life of a car or truck that reaches 200,000 miles.

Does Royal Purple gear oil have friction modifier?

Although Royal Purple has some friction modifiers in it, the Ford rear ends need a little bit more. This kit includes one bottle of friction modifier to provide smooth operation of clutch-type limited-slip differentials. The specially formulated additive eliminates rear-end chatter for quiet operation.

When should I use 140 gear oil?

Gear Oil 140 is particularly recommended in higher ambient conditions, or for quietening noisy differentials where the noise is due to wear, thus prolonging the life of the unit before rebuild is required.

Does Royal Purple have limited-slip differential?

For use with open, limited-slip, and locking differentials. Contains limited-slip friction modifier.

Does Royal Purple gear oil have limited-slip?

Contains limited-slip friction modifier.

What does SAE 140 mean?

The number “140” refers to the kinematic viscosity of the gear oil at 100 °C. This is within a range of 24.0 – 32.4 mm²/s. The higher the number, the more viscous the oil is. SAE 140 class gear oil is considered to be one of the thickest oils used in passenger cars.
