  • What is A193 Grade B8?
  • What is the difference between B8M and b8msh fasteners?
  • What is the difference between A193 grade B8M Class 1 fasteners?

Grade B8 is a heat-treated, work-hardened (or both) austenitic stainless steel further divided into class 1, class 2 & class 2B, each having a distinguished tensile strength.

Is Grade 5 the same as B7?

B7. This chromium molybdenum steel has similar strength to SAE grade 5 fasteners, however, it is specifically used in high temperature and pressure applications. This grade is for fittings, flanges, valves, and pressure vessels. It is also used as threaded rod in concrete and epoxy.

What is A193 Grade B8?

ASTM A193 Grade B8 is a standard material specification for corrosion resistant austenitic stainless steel fasteners, for use in high tensile, high temperature and special purpose applications such as pressure piping & pressure vessels bolting.

What is difference between B7 and B7M?

Grade B7M Studs and Nuts ASTM A193 Grade B7M studs are identical in chemistry to Grade B7, as they are quenched and tempered carbon steel to achieve a lower hardness. However, they have a lower tensile strength than B7 studs.

What is the difference between B8M and b8msh fasteners?

Grade B8M Class 1 fasteners require carbide solution treatment, while Class 2 fasteners require an additional strain hardening operation which increases the strength and reduces the susceptibility to galling. Class 2 fasteners are marked “ B8MSH ” with the grade symbol underlined.

What is the difference between grade B8 and grade B8M bolts?

Grade B8 bolts are made from type 304 stainless steel, while Grade B8M bolts are made from a more corrosion-resistant type 316 stainless steel. ← What is the standard thread series for A193 bolts?

What is the difference between A193 grade B8M Class 1 fasteners?

ASTM A193 Grade B8M Class 1 fasteners are similar to Grade B8 but instead are manufactured from AISI 316 stainless steel as opposed to AISI 304 stainless steel. Type 316 stainless offers superior corrosion resistance to type 304 stainless due to the added molybdenum.

What is the difference between AISI 304 and B8M fasteners?

The difference is in the materials that they are made of. B8M fasteners are manufactured from AISI 316 stainless steel as opposed to AISI 304 stainless steel. The 316 form of stainless steel is better for corrosion resistance because it has more molybdenum.
