When should a hunter wear a fall Assist system?
Most tree stand falls occur when a hunter is climbing up or down a tree. Always use a properly fitting FAS that includes a full-body harness at all times when your feet are off the ground. This includes while climbing a tree, installing a tree stand that uses climbing aids, and hunting from a tree stand.
How do you clean a hunting safety harness?
I buckle all the buckles, stick into a pillow case and tie it shut with a zip tie. Toss it in the wash machine with the scent free soap on the delicate cycle and line dry it outside.
What is saddle hunting?
Saddle hunting is the method of deer hunting from an elevated position using a tree hunting saddle. A hunting saddle, lineman’s belt or rock climbing harness is used to clip to a secure anchor when you reach your desired height on the tree, or you run out of climbing sticks!

What type of treestand should never be used?
Homemade or permanent treestands made of wood are NOT recommended. These treestands often deteriorate over time and become unsafe. The platform can also become slick due to rain, snow, ice or moss that collects on the stand.
What is the first thing a hunter should do in an emergency situation?
The first thing to do is admit to yourself that you are in trouble. Think about what you need to do to survive. Observe the area; and look for shelter, fuel, etc. Plan how you are going to use your survival kit and your other available resources.
Can I machine wash a harness?
Wash the harness in lukewarm soapy water (30 °C maximum, pH neutral). Next, rinse the harness thoroughly with fresh tap water. Stubborn stains can be cleaned with a small brush. Alternatively, you can clean your harness in the washing machine (30 °C delicate synthetic setting, no detergent, no spin cycle).
Can you wash fall protection harness?
The somewhat simple answer is yes. However, you want to keep it out of your washing machine, and you should NEVER put your harness in the dryer.

Because of the safety process built into the saddle hunting method (lineman’s rope and tether rope), saddle hunting honestly provides a greater sense of safety, from the ground up. Saddle hunting provides one of the safest means of hunting from an elevated position.
